The stone is a unit of weight used primarily in the United Kingdom and Ireland for measuring body weight. One stone equals exactly 14 pounds — an exact, defined relationship with no rounding required. The formula is simply: lb = stone × 14.

Stone values are frequently expressed as a combined 'X stone Y pounds' format, where Y ranges from 0 to 13. To convert to total pounds: multiply the stone number by 14 and add the extra pounds. For kilograms: multiply total pounds by 0.453592, or multiply stones by 6.35029.
