About US Federal Holidays
Federal holidays apply to federal government employees and the District of Columbia. State and private sector employees may observe different holidays based on state law and employer policy.
Banks, post offices, and federal courts are closed on federal holidays. Stock markets (NYSE, NASDAQ) follow their own holiday schedules which largely overlap with but are not identical to federal holidays.
