FAQ

What is Daylight Saving Time (DST)?

DST is the practice of advancing clocks by one hour in spring to extend evening daylight, then reverting in autumn. In the US, clocks spring forward on the second Sunday of March and fall back on the first Sunday of November. This converter uses the IANA timezone database to automatically apply the correct offset for the selected date.

What is UTC?

UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the primary global time standard. It does not change with seasons. All time zones are defined as offsets from UTC: Eastern Standard Time is UTC-5, UK summer time is UTC+1, Tokyo is always UTC+9, and so on.

Why do some meetings end up on the wrong day in different time zones?

If it is late evening in one zone, the same moment can be the following day in zones east of it. For example, 10 PM on Monday in New York is 3 AM Tuesday in London. Always verify the date, not just the time, when scheduling internationally.
