How the Countdown Is Calculated

The calculator uses the same calendar arithmetic as an age calculator, but in reverse. Starting from today, it counts complete years until the target date, then remaining complete months, then remaining days. This ensures the breakdown is expressed in meaningful calendar units rather than just dividing total days by 30 or 365.

For example, a countdown from January 15 to September 3 is not simply '231 days / 30 = 7.7 months.' It is precisely 7 months and 19 days (or 6 months and 49 days if counting differently), depending on the calendar arithmetic. The calculator handles this correctly.
